Symptoms and conditions I treat:
- Musculoskeletal pain in pregnancy such as back pain pelvic girdle pain and rib pain
- Advice on exercise in pregnancy and returning to exercise after delivery
- Bladder issues in pregnancy or after delivery such as urge urinary incontinence (sudden urge to pass urine and leaking), stress urinary incontinence (leaking with exertion such as laughing, sneezing or running) or overactive bladder (going to the toilet very frequently and urgency)
- Pelvic organ prolapse
- Bowel issues in pregnancy or after delivery such as bowel incontinence, urgency or constipation
- Abdominal muscle separation after pregnancy (diastasis recti)
- Advice on perineal tears or episiotomy wounds
- Pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse

- Bowel incontinence with exercise
- Abdominal wall separation (diastasis recti) after pregnancy

What to expect from your consultation
Detailed history taking
Internal pelvic floor exam if required- this may be a vaginal examination or rectal examination depending on your symptoms
A thorough assessment of your strength, activation, and function of the back, hip, pelvis, abdominal muscles as required
After your initial consultation, the frequency of your follow-up consultations will depend on your specific circumstances but can vary between 1-2 times per week and 1-2 times per month
Possible treatment options:
- Rehabilitation exercise programme to address any findings from your consultation
- Internal pelvic floor exam if required and once 6 weeks after delivery
- Pelvic floor rehabilitation programme
- Abdominal wall rehabilitation and strengthening after pregnancy or surgery
- Exercise screening to assess readiness to exercise and programme advice
- Education and support to maintain exercise and fitness levels in pregnancy, after delivery and through perimenopause and menopause
